About

My name is Omar Caccia, I’m from Italy, and I play the bandoneon.

Even though I discovered the bandoneon as an adult, this instrument triggered a profound journey of transformation, leading me to relocate to Buenos Aires where I studied at the Conservatory “M. de Falla” and at SADAIC.

I consider myself an adventurer for deciding to embark on a journey and take a risk to learn this instrument.

I feel like an explorer of the bandoneon because I explore uncommon repertoires with it.

I see myself as a traveler because music, for me, is a journey of self-discovery to share.

I see the bandoneon as a versatile instrument that allows me to explore everything I have always loved in terms of music.

The possibilities of this instrument are incredibly vast, allowing to play numerous musical genres, from tango to jazz, from classical to contemporary music.

I am keen on exploring tonal and technical possibilities, with a specific focus on polyphony.

My passion for music comes from meaningful encounters during my childhood: my uncle Camillo, a passionate Opera singer with no formal training, and my cousins Carlo and Diego who played accordion, piano and pipe organ.

The bandoneon became my focus after a captivating visual encounter at my accordion teacher’s home. Despite the challenges of obtaining an instrument, I started studying on my own and later with Maestro Francesco Bruno from Parma.

After a year of studying with F. Bruno, I decided to move to Buenos Aires and studying at the Conservatory under the guidance of Maestro Rodolfo Daluisio at first, and then  Maestro Julio Coviello.

This city, considered the Mecca of the bandoneon, not only provided me formal training but also opportunities to study with legendary teachers like forementioned Rodolfo Daluisio, Julio Coviello and Néstor Marconi.

Through the website omarcaccia.com, I share my research and explorations with the world.

In the videoblog of the site, I provide experiences and useful information for those who want to approach the bandoneon.

My activity is primarily directed towards composers and arrangers interested in writing for this instrument, as well as those who want to learn to play the bandoneon, offering them an initial foundation and a solid subsequent framework derived from my studies at the Conservatory.

In the shop you find transcriptions and arrangements for the bandoneon, the result of my musical research.

Music, for me, is a personal discovery that I share with others.
It's a journey of introspection, a connection to a subtler dimension of existence, close to the realm of Eternity.
